बोला — "Sir, यह diamond असली है? मेरी माँ ने दिया था, कहती हैं बहुत valuable है।"
मैंने अंगूठी ली। Loupe निकाला। 30 seconds देखा।
Fog test किया — 5 seconds।
UV light देखा — 10 seconds।
Certificate नहीं था — लेकिन जवाब था।
मैंने कहा — "यह diamond है। असली है। लेकिन Lab grown है — natural नहीं।"
Customer चौंका। "कैसे पता चला?"
"कुछ signs होते हैं। जो जानता है — उसे 90 seconds लगते हैं।"
आज वही signs तुम्हें सिखाता हूँ।
"Diamond market में सबसे बड़ा fraud certificate नहीं होता — certificate fake होता है। Stone नहीं।"

⚡ Important Industry Update — October 2025
October 2025 mein GIA ne lab-grown diamonds ke liye specific 4Cs grading replace kar di — ab woh "Premium" ya "Standard" do categories deta hai, "D color" ya "VVS2 clarity" nahi. Matlab — ab GIA ke lab-grown certificate se yeh nahi pata chalega ki exact color grade kya hai ya exact clarity kya hai.
Ab lab-grown diamonds ke liye IGI better option hai — IGI full 4Cs grades deta hai lab-grown ke liye bhi — same D-to-Z color scale, same FL-to-I3 clarity scale. Agar koi aaj bhi lab-grown diamond pe GIA certificate dikhaye purane format mein — toh verify karo certificate date zaroor.
6 Diamond Testing Methods — Ek Ek Samjho
यह सबसे basic test है — लेकिन surprisingly useful है।
कैसे करें:
Diamond को अपनी उँगलियों में पकड़ो। मुँह से उस पर साँस छोड़ो — जैसे mirror पर fog करते हो।
देखो — कितनी देर fog रहती है।
✓ Diamond
Fog 1-2 seconds में clear हो जाता है। Diamond heat को बहुत तेज़ conduct करता है — fog तुरंत dissipate होती है।
✗ Fake / CZ
Fog 4-5 seconds या ज़्यादा रहती है। Cubic Zirconia जैसे simulants heat slowly conduct करते हैं।
⚠️ Limitation: यह Natural और Lab Grown में फर्क नहीं बताता — दोनों diamond हैं तो दोनों pass करेंगे।
10X magnification loupe से दो चीज़ें देखो — inclusions और laser inscription।
Inclusions देखो: Natural diamond में natural inclusions होते हैं — carbon spots, feathers, clouds। Lab grown में inclusions अलग pattern के होते हैं — metallic inclusions (HPHT में) या strain patterns (CVD में)।
Laser Inscription: Most IGI-certified lab grown diamonds carry a microscopic laser inscription on the girdle — the outer circumference — that includes the report number and the words "LAB GROWN." यह inscription 10X loupe से पढ़ा जा सकता है।
✓ Natural Diamond
Natural inclusions — irregular, organic patterns। No "LAB GROWN" inscription।
⚠️ Lab Grown
"LAB GROWN" inscription on girdle। Different inclusion patterns। Still a real diamond — just lab made।
UV light (blacklight) से diamond पर shine करो — dark room में।
कैसे करें: UV flashlight ₹200-500 में मिलती है। Diamond को उस पर shine करो।
✓ Natural Diamond
35% natural diamonds blue fluorescence दिखाते हैं। Most show no reaction या faint glow।
⚠️ CZ / Moissanite
CZ strong yellow-orange glow देता है। Moissanite अलग pattern। Glass — कोई glow नहीं।
⚠️ Limitation: Lab grown diamonds UV test में natural जैसा behave कर सकते हैं। Conclusive test नहीं है।
Thermal conductivity tester एक pen-like device होता है — ₹500-₹1,500 में मिलता है। Tip को diamond पर लगाओ — beep sound बताती है result।
कैसे काम करता है: Diamond world का best thermal conductor है — यह heat lightning की speed से conduct करता है। Tester यही check करता है।
✓ Diamond (Natural या Lab)
High beep — diamond confirmed। दोनों natural और lab grown pass करते हैं।
✗ CZ / Glass / Crystal
Low beep या no beep — not diamond। इन्हें clearly identify करता है।
Important: Moissanite thermal tester pass कर लेता है! इसीलिए moissanite के लिए multi-tester ज़रूरी है जो electrical conductivity भी check करे। Moissanite electrically conductive है — diamond नहीं।
Diamond fraud mein zyada tar stone nahi — certificate fake hota hai. Fake certificates genuinely asal jaisi dikhti hain — PDF format, logo, sab kuch. Isliye online verification mandatory hai.
IGI Verify करो: igi.org → Report Verification → Certificate number enter करो। 30 seconds में result।
GIA Verify करो: gia.edu → Report Check → Certificate number enter करो।
QR Code: New certificates पर QR code होता है — scan करो और directly official page खुलती है।
✓ Genuine Certificate
Online verify होती है। Diamond details match करती हैं। Laser inscription number certificate number से match करता है।
✗ Fake Certificate
Online verify नहीं होती। या different stone details show होती हैं। या certificate number exist नहीं करता।
जब बड़ा transaction हो — ₹1 लाख से ऊपर — तो professional testing करवाओ।
GIA iD100 device advanced spectroscopy use karta hai — fluorescence aur phosphorescence ke subtle differences se natural aur lab grown ko conclusively distinguish karta hai. Yeh wo cheez hai jo koi bhi loupe ya basic tester nahi kar sakta.
Options:
IGI Lab — Mumbai, Delhi, Surat में offices हैं। Submit करो, 1-2 days में report।
GIA Lab — International grading। 5-7 days। Natural diamonds के लिए best।
Local testing center — Basic testing ₹500-₹1,500 में। Big purchases के लिए sufficient नहीं।

Screen पर जो details आईं — carat weight, color, clarity, cut — वो certificate पर लिखे से exact match होनी चाहिए। कोई difference हो तो — red flag।
सबसे common fraud: Seller एक certified diamond दिखाता है — customer certificate देखकर trust करता है — लेकिन delivery में different stone देता है। इसीलिए certificate number और laser inscription दोनों delivery के वक्त check करो — stone हाथ में आने के बाद।
